Fathers’ Support Center of St. Louis is a nonprofit organization committed to creating positive outcomes for children and families by helping fathers become more responsible parents. Through a menu of programs and services, Fathers’ Support Center helps fathers prepare to become financially and emotionally involved parents and attain skills necessary to gain and maintain steady employment, and helps both parents develop skills and behaviors that foster the well-being of their children and build a healthy foundation from which their children can develop into responsible and productive adults in the community.

Nurses for Newborns

Nurses for Newborns provides a safety net for families most at-risk in order to prevent infant mortality, child abuse and neglect by providing in-home nursing visits which promote health care, education, and positive parenting skills. Nurses for Newborns provides services to babies who are born with medical problems, born to teen moms or born to mothers with disabilities/mental health concerns, or who are born into families who do not have money for even basic necessities. In addition to medical care, Nurses for Newborns assists families whenever possible with donated materials needed for safe care, such as diapers, formula, baby food, clothing and bedding.

Parents as Teachers

Through advocacy and outreach, Parents as Teachers serves as a voice for early childhood education and champions the critical role of parental involvement and early intervention in the education continuum. Parents as Teachers raises awareness and works to shape policy around the importance of enhancing school readiness by reaching children during the critical, formative years of life. Through Parents as Teachers, educators, child care providers and health providers help communities partner with parents to do a better job of preparing children for a stronger start in life—for example, through early detection of developmental delays and health issues—and for greater success in school.

People’s Health Centers

People’s Health Centers, through its mission, provides comprehensive primary healthcare, such as pediatrics, internal medicine, OB/GYN, dental, mammography, behavioral health, pharmacy, WIC, radiology, podiatry and laboratory services, to meet the health needs of the entire community. The Betty Jean Kerr People’s Health Centers (PHC) provides quality health care and social services to thousands of uninsured and medically underserved people in the St. Louis community.
